Marty Makulski joins as Managing Director in Opportune LLP Houston Office

HOUSTON – Marty Makulski, who has advised a number of energy companies on trading systems and trading system strategies, has joined Opportune LLP as Managing Director in the firm's Energy Supply and Trading Group.

Marty most recently served as a Partner in the Energy Trading practice at Sirius Solutions.  He has thirteen years of experience in providing clients with energy trading and risk management, packaged software implementation, risk policy organization, trading and risk processes and business process automation.

Opportune LLP Welcomes New Partner

HOUSTON – Managing Partner, David C. Baggett, announced today that Josh Sherman has been admitted to the partnership. Mr. Sherman’s primary areas of practice are technical accounting research, SEC reporting and registration statements, financial due diligence, and structuring contracts.

Mr. Sherman specializes in energy trading and derivatives, variable interest entities, purchase accounting, reverse mergers and stock-based compensation. Prior to joining Opportune LLP, Josh worked in Deloitte & Touche’s audit and global energy markets departments where he managed the audits of regulated gas and electric utilities, independent power producers and energy trading entities. "When clients call on us, they want to be confident that their interests are being well-advised. Josh will add to our pool of talent who will continue to provide our clients with a high level of service and expertise," Mr. Baggett said.

Mr. Sherman, a 1998 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, is a Certified Public Accountant and member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Don Jefferis joins as Managing Director in Opportune LLP Houston Office

HOUSTON – Opportune LLP announced today that Don Jefferis has joined the firm as Managing Director of the newly launched Energy Supply and Trading service line. Mr Jefferis’ principal focus will be in assisting energy companies, investment banks, hedge funds and energy intensive corporate clients with their energy trading, logistics and risk management process and systems design, improvement and deployment. Mr. Jefferis’ primary practice areas will include supply and trading organizational design and effectiveness, risk governance, merger integration, performance management and business intelligence, business process improvement, systems selection and systems implementation.

Prior to joining Opportune LLP, Mr. Jefferis established the New York City office of an energy consultancy where he served several investment banks and hedge funds on energy trading systems and merger integration execution.

Mr. Jefferis has a broad, diverse and successful background. Mr. Jefferis was a founder of Arthur Andersen’s Energy Risk Practice, the chief information officer for one of the largest energy trading houses in the United States, president of an energy trading software company, chief financial officer for a publicly traded software company and a consultant to hedge fund administrators on organizational and strategy issues.
